We created Pathpoint to make the E&S market, and all the value that comes with it, accessible and effective for everyone. Wholesale insurance and the E&S market arenât an afterthought â theyâre critical to supporting the worlds most successful carriers and agents that together serve the worldâs businesses.

Pathpoint started in 2017 with the mission to build software that would streamline the procurement of surplus lines coverage.
By partnering with major carriers and focusing on having the best technology in the market, weâve built our agents a proprietary rate-quote-bind-issue system to enable friction-free placement across all of our carrier partners. Weâve been exclusively focused on surplus lines since we started. Today weâre licensed countrywide, a coverholder at Lloydâs of London, backed by major investors, and actively growing our reach and available products.

Exploratory conversations
We learned about inefficiencies in wholesale and E&S, the rising costs of wholesale - could a tech intermediary replace analog matchmaking/placement?
Q4 2017
Initial buildout + seed funding
After researching, we decided to build the solution ourselves. We demoed a prototype and secured seed funding, though our initial idea focused on a digital exchange for brokers and carrier underwriters.
2018
Proof of concept and early partnerships
An attempt to roll up 400 wholesalers into Pathpoint via an internal agent paves the way for Pathpointâs next evolution as a business.
2019-2020
Wholesale operation + technology
We realize marketing and servicing a national wholesale operation is not a one person job, so we decide to create a wholesale operation to couple with the technology and use that to bring the market online.
2021
Strategic growth + Series A funding
We lay the groundwork for bigger, longer-term projects like launching new carriers and an Enterprise Partnership model (Bold Penguin and Tarmika), while securing $30 million in Series A financing, led by Caffeinated Capital, SciFi VC, and Founders Fund.
2022
Agent acquisition + feature development
Pathpointâs focus is on developing new features to make E&S more like placing admitted business, expanding the product suite, and rapidly growing through network partnerships.
2023
Expanding markets + additional funding for growth
We expanded our property segment by adding a carrier that increased appetite capacity in coastal areas, and added two additional carriers to LRO. In January, we also increased our funding by another $12.5 million by Caffeinated Capital to continue growing our agent base.
